Police ask some residents to remain in their homes during York meth investigation

Police are now investigating reports of a meth operation located in York County.

The Tri-Rivers Drug Task Force, York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, and James City County Police Departments executed 5 search warrants in the manufacturing and use of methamphetamine.

The warrants were executed at three York County homes in the 1200 Block of Duncan Drive, the 1200 block of Wilkins Drive, and two James City County homes in the 1100 Block of Penniman Road and the 100 Block of Rondane Place.
These search warrants are the culmination of a five-month investigation.

Due to the hazardous nature of chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine, York County Department of Fire and Life Safety, James City County Fire Department, and Regional Hazardous Materials Teams are on scene to assist law enforcement with any chemicals that may be found during the search.

Officials say the chemicals that may be encountered do not pose an immediate risk to the general public, however, residents in those areas are asked to remain in their homes.

Partial street closures may be in place in these areas while the residences are being searched.

In the unlikely event any residents will need to evacuate their homes, the affected residents will be contacted directly by Law Enforcement or Fire Department personnel.
Additional information will be provided once the searches are completed.
